I have known Dominique for a little over four years. We began working together as colleagues and quickly we clicked. I admired her tenacity, professionalism, and respect for others that she brought to the department.
She was collaborative, kind, compassionate and she “knows her stuff”. She challenged the delivery of mundane, boring, lack-luster engagement for students and encouraged other members to adopt innovative ways. Technology was very much a part of her ideas and conversation with her appeal for great delivery of content from the experts. While this was the very polished, professional academic side of Dominique, it was a very narrow view of what she individually has to offer.
She offers great research-based, practical, sound nutritional information with a twist of ‘Dom’. She is funny, approachable and relatable for any person that she serves. In my observance of her commitment to the department and our students, I quickly became curious of her individual nutrition sessions due to her philosophy and approach. I had no idea that my decision to work with her would be life changing.
We spent many of our sessions focusing on how to live an overall balanced life with great, practical nutrition information. She brought her research to the meetings, but most importantly she brought her heart. Every encounter and session were free from judgment, blame and guilt, as is often the case with other nutritional educators. She gives you the information and extends her hand to guide you along the way. This helped to make the journey not seem so far away or lonely. Her style felt very much rooted in compassion and empathy, with a carefulness to be guided by my pace in adopting this new lifestyle. I feel more empowered and enlightened in learning from such a smart, funny, caring person. She rocks! You will not be disappointed with her services and the many overall holistic changes that you will make in your life.
